Comments

  1. The main character George has caught my attention because the way he acts and talks to Lennie tells us more and more about their past together every time he talks. An example of this can be found on page 6 of the online copy, when George says, “I want you to stay with me, Lennie. Jesus Christ, somebody’d shoot you for a coyote if you were by yourself. No, you stay with me. Your Aunt Clara wouldn’t like you running off by yourself, even if she is dead.” This makes George and the way he speaks interesting because, for the second time so far, he's hinting to someone they call Aunt Clara, and in this line especially he specifies she's dead, not only giving us more information overall, but we can conquer that this is a character that was important to george and Lennie if he mentions her after her death. It leaves us with the question, “Who is aunt Clara?” This is something George does a lot, and that's why his character has captured my attention.

  2. The main character George has caught my attention because he has to take care of Lennie.
An example of this can be found on page 7 when it says "Geroge lay back on the sand and crossed his hands under his head, and Lennie imitated him, raising his head to see wether he were doing it right.. “God, your a load of troube," Said George “I could get along so easily without you on my tail. I could live so easy and maybe have a girl.”
This makes George interesting because he’s willing to take care of Lennie even if its best for Lennie and not George.
The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he’s very blunt to people.
An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curly says "Well, nex’ time you answer when your spoke to."
This makes Curly interesting because he yelled at Lennie very harsh for not answering him

  3. The main character George has caught my attention because he has to take care of Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 13 when George says “I want you to stay with me, Lennie” This makes George interesting because he is willing to to take care of Lennie even though he is hard to handle. The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he is very harsh when he is talking. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curly says “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes Curly interesting because he is forcing Lennie to talk when before George told him he could not talk.

  4. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems like he cares about others but he shows it in a bossy way. An example of this can be found on page 5 when George says “Well, we ain’t got no ketchup. You go get wood. An’ don’t you fool around. It’ll be dark before long.” this makes George interesting because he is being kinda rude to lennie but its like he is trying to prepare him for a working on the ranch lifestyle because he cares about him so much. The minor character that caught my attention was curly. Curly caught my attention because he was acting rude to George and Lennie because Lennie wasn't talking. An example of this is found on page 14 when Curly says Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” this makes him interesting because he is being rude to people he just met

  5. The main character George has caught my attention because he really needs money and a job, but he still carries around lennie. He knows that lennie is a huge setback for him and it makes things a lot harder on him, but he still carries him around. Even though George could just leave any second and be gone with him. An example of this can be found on page 7 when George says “Whatever we ain’t got, that’s what you want. God a’mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go get a job an’ work, an’ no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cat house all night. I could eat any place I want, hotel or any place, and order any damn thing I could think of. An’ I could do all that every damn month. Get a gallon of whisky, or set in a pool room and play cards or shoot pool.” This makes George interesting because he knows for a fact that he could live so much easier, and do so much more things. He knows it would be so much easier to get a job and make money without him. But he stays with him no matter what. Even though George knows that Lennie is a huge set back for him.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because right out of the gate, he starts picking on Lennie because he doesn't talk. Even though Lennie is a lot bigger than him. He is very rude to them at the start. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley says “Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes Curley interesting because right out the get go he is yelling at someone who is bigger. And being very rude to them.

  6. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is kind hearted. An example of this can be found on page 9 when George yells at Lennie about his mouse; and Lennie says " I wasn't doin’ nothing bad with it, George. Jus’ strokin’ it." This makes Lennie interesting because he cares more about comfort, and his happiness rather than getting a job. Lennie is different from the rest for this reason too, everyone else is about their work and are never happy, but Lennie is happy but around them he can’t be. The minor character Curley has caught my attention because of his big ego. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curley says "Well nex’ time you answer when you're spoke to." This makes Curley interesting because he acts like he’s the boss, even though his dad is. With this fact, it boosts his ego even more, because he can do anything he wants and is guaranteed this job.

  7. The main character George has caught my attention because, he has been the main one talking in the story so no one knows about Lennie being more slow than others, and has been taking care of Lennie as if he was a little brother. An example of this can be found on pages 21-23 when George keeps talking to the boss for Lennie, especially when he says “Strong as a bull” or “He’s a good skinner. He can rassle grain bags, drive a cultivator. He can do anything. Just give him a try” This makes George interesting because he his basically in the spotlight a lot more than Lennie, so we are seeing him show his more clever side and him acting like a big brother to Lennie.

The minor character Old man with the old dog has caught my attention because he seems to know about everything that has went down in the ranch and knows about every person there. An example can be found on page 20 when he says “This here blacksmith name of Whitey was some kind of guy that put stuff around even if there wasn’t no bugs, just to make sure see? Tell you what he used to do. At meals he’d peel his boil potatoes, an’ he’d take over what little spot, no matter what kind, before he’d eat it.” This makes the old man interesting because he knows the history of the farm and what will probably know what might happen and, he might be able to black mail certain workers of the ranch and also trade information with everyone.

  8. The main character George has caught my attention because of the way that he is treating Lennie and helping him. An example of this can be found on page 3 when George says " “O.K—O.K. I’ll tell ya again. I ain’t got nothing to do. Might jus’ as well spen’ all my time tellin’ you things and then you forget ‘em, and I tell you again.``." This makes George interesting because you never know how he will act around Lennie or how he is going to treat him.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because of his dog and how he is has a lot of questions. An example of this can be found on page 18 when Candy says "Candy to shoot his old dog and give him one of the pups to raise up? I can smell that dog a mile away. Got no teeth, damn near blind, can’t eat. Candy feeds him milk. He can’t chew anything else." This makes Candy interesting because usually people don’t ask that many questions.

  9. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is 'strange'. An example of this is can be found on page 9 when Lennie had a dead mouse in his pocket, "I wasn't doin' nothing bad with it, George. Jus' strokin' it." This makes Lennie interesting because it shows how Lennie's mind kind of work. He really only thinks of things to make him feel better, comfort items.

The minor character Curly had caught my attention because of his attitude. An example of this is can be found on page 26 when he talks to Lennie and he doesn't respond, "Well nex' time you answer to when you're spoken to." This make Curly interesting because he acts like he's in charge and runs the place, even though he is not. The only reason he feels so inclined to act this way is that his father is the boss. That and he feels threatened by big dudes, so he went after Lennie.

  10. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he wants to be like someone he’s not. An example of this can be found on page 4 when the book says “Lennie, who had been watching, imitated George exactly. He pushed him-self back, drew up his knees, embraced them, looked over to George to see whether he had it just right.” This makes Lennie interesting because people are being themselves and don’t copy anyone but Lennie copies George’s every move because Lennie looks up to George like he’s his bigger brother taking care of him.

The minor character Curley’s wife has caught my attention because she keeps on giving everyone in the ranch “the eye”. An example of this can be found on page 15 in the PDF file when Swamper says “I seen her give Slim the eye. Slim’s a jerkline skinner. Hell of a nice fella. Slim don’t need to wear no high-heeled boots on a grain team. I seen her give Slim the eye. Curley never seen it. An’ I seen her give Carlson the eye.” This makes Curley’s wife interesting because she keeps on giving everyone “the eye” and i’m starting to wonder what “the eye” is. I don’t know if she’s interested in someone or if she’s warning someone.

  11. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems extremely rude to Lennie but he does care for him. An example can be found on page 16 when George talks to Lennie about getting rabbits. "'Sure we will,' George said sleepily. 'Red and blue and green rabbits, Lennie. Millions of 'em.'" This makes George interesting because even though he yells at Lennie a lot, he puts up with him and makes him feel better when he's feeling down. I think George has a slight soft spot for Lennie, but is still tough on him because he cares. Lennie even offered to leave but George told him to stay, even though he's a set back with his disability.

The minor character Curley's wife has caught my attention because she seems to be a tramp. An example of this can be found on page 31 when she starts to leave the boys. "She smiled archly and twitched her body. 'Nobody can't blame a person for lookin',' she said." This shows that she was asking for attention, throwing her body about to get the attention of the boys instead of her husband. It could mean that she only cares about attention/ being in the spotlight.

  12. The main character George has caught my attention because he needs to take care care of Lennie and take him in as one of his own. An example of this is shown on page 12 where Lennie said to George, “Well I could. I could go of in the hills there. Some place I’d find a cave.”Then George kept telling him no and how he wants him to stay with him. This makes George interesting because even though George is harsh on Lennie and complains about Lennie always being forgetful, he doesn’t want Lennie to ever leave. He is willing to always take care of Lennie even though he doesn’t want to at some times.
The minor character Curly gets my attention because he seems really confident and is a leader figure who is in charge. An example of this is on page 26, when he started yelling at Lennie for no reason at all. This makes Curly pop out to me because he seems to yell at Lennie for a bad reason just to be the boss.

  13. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems like he wants to be by himself and like he dosen’t want to take care of Lennie ,but in reality he wants to help Lennie and take care of him. An example of this can be found on page 13 when George says “I want you to stay with me Lennie.” This makes George interesting because it shows how he cares for Lennie and how he wants to take care of him even though he can be a little mean to Lennie.

The minor character slim has caught my attention because he seems like he knows what he’s doing and wants to co-worker that knows what there doing. An example of this can be found on page 34 when slim says “You guys ever bucked any barley” This makes slim interesting because it shows how he just wants someone that can work and know what there doing, and how he knows what he's doing and that he wants more people like that on the ranch so the job is easier and to make it go faster.

  14. The main character, Lennie has caught my attention because he’s different from the other characters in the book. He’s sweet and caring. An example of this can be found on page 18-19 in the PDF, when Lennie says “Lennie was watching George excitedly. George rumpled his cards into a messy pile. “Yeah!” George said, “I heard him, Lennie. I’ll ask him.” “A brown and white one,” Lennie cried excitedly.” This makes Lennie interesting because Lennie has a soft spot for animals, and he’s very caring to both animals and people. He doesn’t ever intentionally want to kill animals, even though he does.

The minor character Curley’s wife has caught my attention because she’s very flirtatious. An example of this can be found on page 15 in the PDF when they talk about Curley’s wife. “I seen her give Slim the eye. Slim’s a jerkline skinner. Hell of a nice fella. Slim don’t need to wear no high-heeled boots on a grain team. I seen her give Slim the eye. Curley never seen it. An’ I seen her give Carlson the eye.” This makes Curley’s wife interesting because she always seems to be doing something she shouldn’t be doing. The way she acts towards other men, even though she’s married is a little suspicious.

  15. Lennie caught my attention because of his interesting characteristics. He’s well built, mentally challenged, and acts childlike. His innocence helps him to get along with others, but this caused him to become naive and unawake to the world around him. Pg. 6 book, “Give it here! Lennie’s closed hand slowly obeyed. George took the mouse and threw it across the pool to the other side, among the brush. “What do you want of a dead mouse, anyways?” “I could pet it with my thumb while we walked along.” This is a good example of why his innocence can be both good and bad for Lennie and it proves why Lennie needs George to help lead him through life to overcome his barrier of naivety. Lennie feels like this because he trusts George’s judgement. The quote shows how he is compassionate for animals yet because he’s naive, he doesn’t know that the mouse is most likely riddled with disease.
Another reason Lennie has caught my attention is his humility. In the book, pg. 15, I noticed how humble Lennie is. “What are you gonna say tomorrow when the boss starts asking you questions? Lennie chewed and swallowed. His face was concentrated. “I...I ain’t gonna...say a word.” This quote proves that Lennie is humble and Lennie desires to be humble in order to please George. Lennie is tough and tall while George is weak and short but Lennie chooses to take George’s commands because he wants to please him. The smaller one picking on the bigger one is ironic, but Lennie knows he needs George so he chooses to be humble and that caught my attention.

  16. The main character George has caught my attention because he takes care of Lennie while getting the ranch and making beans for him and basically just taking care of Lennie and acting like an older brother type even though Lennie is older and taller but he is a challenge. An example of this can be found on page 10 when George said, “There’s enough beans for four men,” It shows he doing everything for Lennie to take care of him for cooking, building a fire and teaching him how to be man and reminding everything for Lennie before getting to the ranch. This makes George interesting because he swears and yells at Lennie but it shows that he really cares about Lennie and teaching him how to be a man and getting a job not only for him, for Lennie! Also showing that George will never leave Lennie, he would take care of him until he died.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he doesn’t like big guys and it shows when Lennie walked in he realized there is a big guy right in front of him. An example of this can be found on page 14 when swamper says, “Well . . . . tell you what. Curley’s like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy.” It shows that Curley doesn’t even like Lennie and George doesn’t like him back because there is nothing to hate on Lennie for and that even though Curley is small he just a jerk to Lennie because he is big. This makes Curley interesting because I feel later in the story he will get crazier with his hate against Lennie and also with his attitude against big guys which Lennie is one.

  17. The main character George has caught my attention because of how he takes care of Lennie. He continues to take care of Lennie even when he could easily leave him and continue life on his own. An example of this can be found on page 11 of the book when it says, “I got you! You can’t keep a job and you lose me ever’ job I get.” This makes it interesting because when George says this, he doesn’t even consider the fact of leaving Lennie. If he left Lennie he could keep a job of his own, so he could fulfill his dream of owning his own land someday. Rather than having Lennie around that seems to be a barrier in George’s life. Despite what George’s life would look like without Lennie, George continues to care for him and continues getting new jobs, knowing that Lennie could potentially lose the job for him again and again.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because of his determination to prove himself to others. He believes that he has to fight the big men that get in the way of his life so he can show his strength as a smaller guy. An example of this can be found on page 26 of the book when George says, “He don’t have to take after Lennie. Lennie didn’t do nothing to him.” This makes it interesting because Lennie doesn’t know how Curley thinks of him. Lennie doesn’t want a fight, and he doesn’t think of himself as a big, strong, man who can fight. This also makes it interesting because Curley’s size has proven to be a barrier for him because he feels he can’t take charge over the people bigger than him. He feels that he must show his power in means of a fight, rather than earning his authority by respect.

  18. The main character George has caught my attention because he speaks very hypocritically. An example of this can be found on page 11, when George says, “You can’t keep a job and you lose me ever’ job I get. Jus’ keep me shovin’ all over the country all the time.” This makes George interesting, because even though he is rude to Lennie and talks about how his life is devastating with him, he still sticks with him. He goes against himself saying how his life would be so much better without Lennie, yet he still keeps him around and helps him. George talks harshly to Lennie but keeps Lennie with him.
The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he seems to have a chip on his shoulder, and is very disrespectful. An example of Curley’s disrespectfulness is found on page 26, he speaks to Lenny harshly when he says, “Well, nex’ time you answer when you're spoke to.” This makes Curly interesting because he hardly knows Lennie, but he speaks to him in a disrespectful tone. Curly seems to have a inflated ego even though he is the little guy and seems like the boss; this makes Curley interesting.

  19. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because of how he mimics george. An example of this can be found on page 4 when Steinbeck says "Lennie, who had been watching, intimidated George exactly. He pushed himself back, drew up his knees, embraced them, and looked over to George to see whether he had it just right." This makes Lennie interesting because It shows how much he relies and follows George. It makes me think what would Lennie do without George and could he even function.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he's such Jerk. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curly says "well, next' time you answer when you’re spoke to." This makes Curly interesting because It shows how he always wants to be bigger and boss people around.

  20. The main character George has made me attentive to him because he is really strong willed and has a stronger personality. An example of this was found on page 13 of the book when George says “You ain’t gonna put nothing over me.“ It really makes me see how strong willed he is by making the rules and sticking with what he believes in or wants. How he never let's Lenny lead or do anything of his own. George also grabs my attention because of how rude and ill mannered he is to Lenny. But really Lenny doesn't know better. Another example is on page 11 of the book when George states to Lenny “- If I was alone I could live so easy.” That is more on the rude side to say to Lenny due to the imbalance. But in all George can’t really get anywhere good or settle down due to Lenny. This is an extreme barrier for George. Due to George having to haul around Lenny and basically be his caregiver his desires such as food, jobs, and a home is all put on pause.
The minor character, Curley’s wife, has not only caught my attention but she catches many other of the characters’ attention. An example of this is found on page 31-32 in the book when she approaches Lenny and George. “She put her hands behind her back and leaned against the door frame so that her body was thrown forward.” This makes her seem interesting because she has a husband so why is she trying to be provocative towards other men? The reader could be wondering why she's even in the bunkhouse, hence the fact that it’s only guys and then her. She wasn't looking very hard for him since George said "Well, you ain't tryin' very hard. I see him goin' in your house." It is possible that she just wanted to meet the "new guys." She thinks that all the guys will respond to her flaunting her appearance. She must see everyone as thinking that she is so attractive. She is similar to George because she just comes in expecting everyone to help her and respond to her, when she doesn’t even know either of the men. Just how George does when he’s with Lenny. He expects Lenny to answer to him and do whatever he says.

  21. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he has problems that other people don't. An example of this is on page 9 when it says, "I remember the lady that used to give the to me.". This make Lennie interesting because he doesn't remember who the lady is. George then tells him after that the lady was his Aunt Clara. This is interesting for him because the average person does not forget who there aunt is.

The Minor character Candy has caught my attention because he is a nice guy and actually wants George and Lennie to have a good time working there. An example of this is on page 18 when he says,"You can have them two beds there.". This makes Candy interesting because on this entire page he is helppng out George and Lennie and telling them things about the people they will work with. While every other character has been not the nicest to them.

  22. the main character that caught my attention was Lennie because he was a not like any other character that is in the book because of his mental disability and in the book how he wants to be like George like on page 4 "Lennie, who had been watching, intimidated George exactly." he is also different because in the book it is expected of him to mess up like in there past town weed where they got ran out of town because he grabbed a girls dress because it was soft and when she tried to run away Lenny grabbed her dress tighter not letting her go

the minor character that caught my attention the most was Curly he mainly caught my attention for the fact that he was a smaller then most people on the ranch and he got into a lots of fights because like he said in the book he did not like taller people

  23. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he messes up a lot and doesn't listen very well. An example of this is on page 9 when George and Lennie were next to the pond and they were talking about what they were going to do when they get to the ranch. But as they were talking George noticed that Lennie was hiding something from him. George asked for it but Lennie resisted; after George asked more Lennie finally gave him what he had. Lennie had a dead mouse; George was concerned.

  24. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he's mentally handicapped. An example of this can be found on page 2 when George says. “So you forgot that awready, did you? I gotta tell you again, do I? Jesus Christ, you’re a crazy bastard!” “I forgot,” Lennie said softly. “I tried not to forget. Honest to God I did, George.” “O.K—O.K. I’ll tell ya again.” This makes George look mean but this is interesting because Lennie probably forgets things all the time and it makes George upset because he's always repeating himself.
The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he's short but likes to fight with big guys. An example of this can be found on page 3 when Candy said. “.. . . “Well . . . . tell you what. Curley’s like alot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy.” This makes Lenny scared witch is interesting because Curley is a really small guy and usually it's the other way around.

  25. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he has a disability and cant take care of himself because he forgets everything and tries to do everything that George basically does for example on page four it says “Lennie who had been watching George, intimidated George exactly.” he also caught my attention because of his like past he had a old job in weed and like held onto a girls dress because it was soft and wouldn't let go of her dress.George has to take care of Lennie because of his disability.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he is the boss's son and seems to be angry all the time and not that excited about strong looking men. He was smaller than most people and didn't like stronger looking men as on page 26 Curly said “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” this makes him interesting because he is already yelling at Lennie for being bigger than him and wanted to talk to him.

  26. The main character George has caught my attention because he speaks very peculiarly. An example of this can be found on page 11, when George says, “You can’t keep a job and you lose every job I get. Jus’ keep me shovin’ all over the country all the time.” This makes George a little interesting because even though he is mean to Lennie and talks about how his life is devastating with him around. He is always saying how his life would be so much better without Lennie there, yet he still keeps Lennie around and helps him. George talks harshly to Lennie but he knows that Lennie needs him as a caretaker.
The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he seems to be a fighter when he shouldnt be, and he is very disrespectful. An example of Curley’s disrespectfulness is found on page 26, he speaks to Lenny angerly when he says, “Well, nex’ time you answer when you're spoken to.” This makes Curly interesting because he barely knows Lennie and he still speaks to him with a disrespectful tone. Curly seems to have a large ego even though he is the little guy and he makes it seem like he is the person in charge. This makes Curley a very interesting character throughout these 2 chapters.

  27. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he acts like a child when it comes to certain things. An example of this can be found on page 2 when Lennie says "George knelt beside the pool and drank from his hand with quick scoops. “Tastes all right,” he admitted. “Don’t really seem to be running, though. You never drink water when it ain’t running, Lennie." This makes Lennie interesting because he copies other people and He does things without thinking.

The minor character curly has caught my attention because he doesn't like big guys. An example of this can be found on page 14 when curly says "He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind
like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy." This makes curly interesting because he was only bullied to Lennie and not George because George is not a big guy.

  28. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because Lennie has been a big part of George's friendship. An example of this is on page 9 when George and Lennie were next to the pond and they were talking about what they were going to do when they got to the ranch. As they were talking George asked Lennie about the ticket and Lennie reached into his pocket and George asked “What’d you take outta that pocket?” Lennie tried to hide it but George finally convinced Lennie to see what it was and it was a dead mouse. George asked for it but Lennie resisted; after George asked more Lennie finally gave him what he had. Lennie had a dead mouse; George was concerned about this and took the mouse and threw it across the pool to the other side, among the brush. This makes Lennie interesting because Lennie is like a little kid in an adults body and George is like the parents/figure of this strong tall boy who acts little.

The Minor character Candy has caught my attention because he is a nice old guy and actually wants George and Lennie to have a good time working there. An example of this is on page 18 when he says,"You can have them two beds here.". Indicating two bunks near the stove. This makes Candy interesting because on this entire page he is helping out George and Lennie and telling them things about the people they will work with. 29. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems to have a soft side buried under his very tough exterior; maybe not just towards Lennie but in general. This is really easy to see in the beginning, but especially so on page 11 through 14 when George is talking about how he would be better by himself and he says, “I got you! You can’t keep a job and you lose me ever’ job I get.” He goes on later to say this on page 12, “I been mean, ain’t I? … I was just foolin’ Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me”. This makes George interesting because if he was as truly as mean and aggressive as he acts, he would have let Lennie go off and wouldn’t have apologized, although he did it in a roundabout way. The fact that he comments on his meanness and says he wants him with me shows his softer side. He isn’t all that bad, he just has a bad temper and bad mouth.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because of how rude and harsh he is, especially to Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 26 when he’s being rude to Lennie, he says “Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoke to.” This makes Curley interesting because he got mad and aggressive over Lennie over such a small thing, seemingly only because he’s the owner’s kid and he can treat ‘his’ workers like trash because they’ll stay or get fired.

  30. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he acts like a kid and is funny. An example of this can be found on page 8 and says “I like beans with ketchup” and keeps on going on about how he wants ketchup and they do not have any. This makes Lennie interesting because he kept on forgetting that they do not have ketchup, and he keeps on going about how he wants ketchup.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he is so small and he does not like the people that are bigger than him. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley is looking at Lennie and walked up to him and makes fun of him and says "You the new guys the old man was waitin’ for?" This makes Curley interesting because he is the small person and he goes for the bigger people.

  31. the main character Lennie has caught my attention in the story because he has a disability. this disability was unknown in the time this nook was wrote in. he is on his way to his job there is a risk though so he is told not to talk by another character in the book. an example is shown in page 8 when he has a mouse in his pocket because it is comforting for him. the reason for the mouse is to represent his old blanket. this makes Lennie interesting because this gives him his character. it makes him more him by showing that he has a disability and showing what he says.

  32. The main character George has caught my attention because he has a dedication to taking care of Lennie and finding them work. An example of this is found on page 4 when George says “ Might jus’ as well spent’ all my time tellin’ you things and then you forget ‘em and I tell you again.” This makes George interesting because he could just be living his life by himself and he could have an easier life but instead he takes his time to take care of Lennie and find a job for the both of them. He takes the time to cook them both dinner and make sure that Lennie isn’t doing dumb things like a big brother or a father. This also makes him super important to Lennie because without him he probably wouldn’t be alive still because he still would have the survival skills that George provides.
The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he seems to be helping Lennie and George even though he just met them. An example of this is on page 13 of the digital copy when Candy says “He’s a nice fella,” the swamper agreed. “You got to take him right.” This makes Candy interesting because he just met these guys and he could mess with them a little or be mean to them like Curly but instead he’s helping them out a little .

  33. The main character Lenny has caught my attention because of the way he looks up to George and mimickers his every move. An example of this can be found on page 11, when George and Lennie have averaged at this place where they are going to stay the night and there inspecting there beds and, " He leaned over and inspected
the sacking closely. Immediately Lennie got up and did the same with his bed." This makes Lennie interesting because he is a grown man and he is looking up to another grown man and studying his very move like a little baby.

The minor character Curly had caught my attention because of his attitude and the way he treats people. An example of this can be found on page 26 when he talks to Lennie and he doesn't respond, "Well nex' time you answer when you're spoken to." This makes Curly interesting because he acts like he's in charge and the boss of everyone and runs the place, even though in reality hes just another person. The only reason he feels like he can act this way is because his father is the boss, also he feels threatened by big dudes, so he went after a very vulnerable Lennie.

  34. The main character George has caught my attention because he wants to take care of lennie. An Example of this can be found on page 12 when Lennie said to George, “Well I could. I could go of in the hills there. Some place I’d find a cave. And then George was telling him that he wants him to stay with him. This makes George interesting because he could just let Lennie go off by himself but he won't let him do that. Even though George is mean to him sometimes. But he still wants to take care of him.
A minor character that catches my attention is curly, because he acts like he runs everything. An example of this is on page 26, when he starts talking to George and lennie but then notices that lennie is not talking and starts to yell at him for it. This makes curly pop out because everyone else seems to notice that Lennie doesn't talk much but doesn't really say much about it, showing he likes to tell people what to do.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The main character George has caught my attention because he is found having to care for Lennie a lot. Lennie has an intellectual disability and requires a lot of guidance by George. An example of this can be found on page 3 of the book when George says “Lennie, for God’s sakes don't drink so much… Lennie. You gonna be sick like you was last night.” This shows how George watches over Lennie all the time making sure he isn't doing anything that he shouldn't be doing. This makes George interesting because it shows how big of a heart he has. He knows his life would be a lot easier if he didn’t have Lennie with him all the time. George even says, “When I think of the swell time without you, I go nuts.” However, he knows that he can’t ever leave Lennie behind because Lennie needs George very much.

The minor character Candy has also caught my attention because when George and Lennie first arrived at the ranch he was very welcoming. Candy is an older man and has been at the ranch for a very long time so he knows the people very well. An example of this can be found on page 14 of the PDF when Candy is explaining who Curley is to George and Lennie and after he says, “Don’t tell Curley I said none of this. He’d slough me. He just don’t give a damn. Won’t ever get canned ‘cause his old man’s the boss.” This makes Candy interesting because he is willing to warn George and Lennie about Curley so they don’t get into trouble with him in the future.

  36. The main character Lennie caught my attention because of how he acts. An example of this can be found on .page 6 when he wanted a dead mouse and when george asked why he said “I could pet it with my thumb while we walked along”.This makes Lennie interesting because he thinks and does stuff that a normal person would not do which makes him weird but also funny.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he's rude and not kind and tries to be a show off and act hard. An example of this can be found on page 14 on the PDF “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes Curley interesting because i wonder why he acts like this and what his reason for it is.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because Lennie is trying to be exactly like George and copying his every move. An example of this is on page 19 when it says, “George lifted his tick and looked underneath it. He leaned over and inspected the sacking closely. Immediately Lennie got up and did the same with his bed.” This makes Lennie interesting because Lennie is trying to be someone he isn't in order to make George happy. Lennie relies on George to take care of him and he looks up to him as a mentor/parent figure.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because Curly feels like he is better than the other workers and has to have power over them. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley yells “By christ, he's gotta talk when he's spoke to.” Right away, Curly starts picking on Lennie because he isn't speaking. This makes Curly interesting because he is picking on someone who is bigger than him and someone who has the capability to beat him in a fight. Curly feels like he is better because he is the boss’ son.

    ReplyDelete
  38. George one of the two main characters has caught my attention because he acts like a harsh parent everytime he is with Lennie instead of a helpful friend. There is an example of this found on pages 5-6 “‘Its on’y a mouse, George.’ ‘A mouse? A live mouse?’ ‘Uh-uh. Jus’ a dead mouse, George. I didn’t kill it. Honest! I found it. I found it dead.’ ‘Give it here!’ said George. ‘Aw, leave me have it, George.’ ‘Give it Here!’ Lennie’s closed hand slowly obeyed.”. This makes George interesting because he sounds like a person who would ignore that type of feeling but he doesn’t since he does that to Lennie, even if Lennie thinks that he is being mean in reality he is just doing his best to keep Lennie up.
Candy, one of the few minor characters has caught my attention because he is a great listener and likes to hear others conversations while agreeing with what others say around him. An example of this happens on page 14 when Candy says "“Well, he better watch
out for Lennie. Lennie ain’t no fighter, but Lennie’s strong and quick and
Lennie don’t know no rules.” He walked to the square table and sat down on
one of the boxes. He gathered some of the cards together and shuffled them.
The old man sat down on another box. “Don’t tell Curley I said none of this.
He’d slough me. He just don’t give a damn. Won’t ever get canned ‘cause his
old man’s the boss.”" this makes him interesting because he knows what is up but he doesn't speak of it outloud. This makes him a little bit more hidden type of character.

  39. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because how delayed he is. An example of this can be found on page 6 when Lennie says “I forgot again,” prior to saying this, George said “ Now do you remember where we’re going?” Lennie's reply made George irritated. This makes Lennie interesting because he’s clueless most of the time and doesn’t know what's going on, as you can see in the quote. In the end George puts up with Lennie because he has the desire to take care of him. You can see this because even though George has a quick temper he deals with Lennie. This brings me to the point that Lennie desires George because if it weren’t for George then he would be lonely and clueless, hence the quote I used. This is also one of Lennie's barriers. Lennie isn’t very smart and George makes him feel ashamed of himself for not knowing sometimes. You can see this on page 3 when George “So you forgot that awready, did you? I gotta tell you again, do I? Jesus Christ, you’re a crazy bastard!” “I forgot,” Lennie said softly.
The minor character Slim has caught my attention because he’s kind and doesn’t judge a book by its cover. An example of this can be found on page 17 when Slim was first introduced to the story. He looked kindly at the two in the bunk house. “It’s brighter’n a bitch outside,” he said gently. “Can’t hardly see nothing in here. You the new guys?” This makes Slim interesting because he doesn’t show a sign of bad energy. He greets Lennie and George with a welcoming tone. Slim is optimistic, this gives him a good view on the world. He quickly makes friends with Lennie and George due to his friendly personality. He’s similar to George and Lennie because they are friendly and see the world in a positive scope. George might seem aggressive, but this is quickly debunked by the thought that George has kept Lennie under his wing.

    1. Paragraph #1 - The main character George caught my attention through his actions in the first and second chapter. One reason being how he at many times ‘flies off the handle’ at Lennie; which gives an idea as to how much Lennie has impacted his life. Something I get from these episodes is the idea that George has been taking care of and dealing with Lennie for a long time, to the point where he likely doesn’t have very many memories without Lennie. He’ll even go off on him for mynute reasons that (although he has his reasons), “Be a damn good thing if it was you,’ George said viciously. ‘Save ever’body a hell of a lot of trouble.” Page. 23 Paperback version. Many of these outbursts stem from how he feels he can’t do anything with Lennie around; despite that, he still feels obliged to take care of him.

Paragraph #2 - During chapter two, it was Candy who caught my attention. The reason being, is that when characters like the Boss or Curly shows up, he gets out of their way, preferring instead to just leave the scene all together. Not only that but this line (“The old man was reassured. He had drawn a derogatory statement from George. He felt safe now, and he spoke more confidently.”) reassured me of the timid nature of this character, and that he was likely more afraid to do things, not wanting to step on peoples nerves. This is not only as much a show of his character, but of the characters around him such as the Boss and Curly. That’s why I found this character interesting.

  41. The main character George has caught my attention because he never lets Lennie talk because he thinks lennie is dumb. On pages 2 and 3 this is a quote I got that shows George has to take care of Lennie. “Lennie!” he said sharply. “Lennie, for God’ sakes don’t drink so much.” Lennie continued to snort into the pool. The small man leaned over and shook him by the shoulder. “Lennie. You gonna be sick like you was last night.” George also feels like he’s being held back, because he has to always watch Lennie.
The minor character the Boss has caught my attention because when Lennie didn't talk the boss asked why. The boss said suddenly, “Listen, Small!” Lennie raised his head. On page 12 it says, “What can you do?” In a panic, Lennie looked at George for help. “He can do anything you tell him,” said George. “He’s a good skinner. He can rassel grain bags, drive a cultivator. He can do anything. Just give him a try.”
The boss turned on George. “Then why don’t you let him answer? What you
    trying to put over?”
George broke in loudly, “Oh! I ain’t saying he’s bright. He ain’t. But I say
he’s a God damn good worker. He can put up a four hundred pound bale.”

  42. The main character George has caught my attention because on page 8 when it says “’Course you did. Well, look. Lennie—if you jus’ happen to get in trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an’ hide in the brush.” “Hide in the brush,” said Lennie slowly. “Hide in the brush till I come for you. Can you remember that?” “Sure I can, George. Hide in the brush till you come.”This makes it interesting because it seems like George is doing all of this for himself. And could care less about what lennie. George is giving him very Strict instructions to do what he says and not talk to get the job.

  43. The main character that has caught my attention is George, he caught my attention because while he is nowhere as big or as strong as Lennie he is still able to tell him what to do, like when George and Lennie are talking after the boss leaves. George turned on Lennie. “So you wasn’t gonna say a word. You was gonna leave your big flapper shut and leave me do the talkin’. Damn near lost us the job.” Lennie stared hopelessly at his hands. “I forgot, George.” “Yeah, you forgot. You always forget, an’ I got to talk you out of it.” In this quote you can see the way George is the boss of talking and Lennie is ashamed if he upsets George.
The minor character that has caught my attention is curly. He caught my attention because I find it interesting that even though he is small he still tries to pick on Lennie who is a big strong guy. “Let the big guy talk.” Lennie twisted with embarrassment. That's the first conversation ever between those two showing how when though Curly doesn't know anything about Lennie he still wants to pick a fight with him due to his size.

  44. The main character George Has caught me attention because he always has something to say about people. An example of this can be found on page 26 when George says “I seen plenty tough little guys. But this Curley better not make no mistakes about Lennie. Lennie ain’t handy, but this Curley punk is gonna get hurt if he messes around with Lennie.” This makes George interesting because he always has something to say and thinks Lennie wants to put up a fight over something stupid. Lennie didn’t talk because George was talking for him.The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he was yelling at Lennie even though George was talking for Lennie and was saying maybe Lennie didn’t want to talk. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Lennie says “ We jus’ come in.” and Curley was yelling at him saying, “ Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoken to.” This makes Curley interesting because maybe he’s like this because of his dad being the boss or maybe because of his wife.

  45. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he acts like a little kid and talks like one but he is a big strong man. An example of this can be found on page 10 when Lennie says "“I’d pet ‘em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead—because they was so little." This makes Lennie interesting because people would be more intrigued on why he talks the way he does and why he acts that way.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he was going on this little rant on how he should sleep in the bed. An example of this can be found on page 18 when Candy says "last guy that had this bed was a blacksmith—hell of a nice fella and as clean a guy as you want to meet. Used to wash his hands even after he ate..". This makes Candy interesting because he is persuading him into sleeping in that bed .

  46. The main character George has caught my attention because he acts tough all the time but when Lennie says that he can go to the hills on the other side of the lake if George says he doesn’t want to be near him anymore. but George tells him that he can’t leave and that George needs Lenny. An example of this can be found on page 12-13 when Lennie says “George, you want I should go away and leave you alone” “where the hell could you go?” “well, I could. I could go off in the hills there. Someplace i’d find a cave” “yeah? How’d you eat. You ain’t got sense enough to find nothing to eat.” “I’d find things, George. I don’t need no nice food with ketchup. I’d lay out out in the sun and nobody’d hurt me. An’ if I foun’ a mouse, I could keep it. Nobody’d take it away from me.” George looked quickly and searchingly at him “I been mean, ain’t I?” “ if you don’ want me I can go off in the hills an’ find a cave. I can go away any time.” “No--look! I was jus’ foolin’, Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me. Trouble with mice is you always kill’em.” This makes George interesting because George is sometimes really mean and doesn’t realize that what he say’s can hurt and when Lennie tells George that all he has to do is say that he doesn’t want Lennie around that Lennie will leave him alone. Then George feels bad and tells Lennie that he was just fooling around and that George wants Lennie there with him.

  47. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is forgetful but he still tries very hard to make George proud. An example of this can be found on page 4 when Lennie forgot where they were going and he says, “I forgot,” Lennie said softly. “I tried not to forget . Honest to god I did, George.” This makes Lennie interesting because it shows that he cares about George and does not want to disappoint him. He tends to see George as a figure of authority and all he wants is to make George proud.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he has a strong personality and he feels the need to be in control. An example of this can be found when Curley first meets Lennie and George he is very rude to Lennie and tells him to speak when he is spoken to. This makes Curley interesting because he is attempting to gain control over Lennie and ina way scare Lennie into feeling intimidated by him.

  49. The minor character curly caught my attention because he is a little guy but he likes to fight bigger guys, this caught my attention because Lennie who is a big guy started to work at the same place. And i think that curly wants to fight Lennie because he likes to fight bigger guys. And Lennie is a much bigger guy and as curly says “He may be quiet but he is as strong as a bull” which makes Lennie seem tough but not too long after that Lennie says he wants a puppy. But the way Lennie says he wants a dog makes him seem kinda soft.

The main character Lennie caught my attention because he is one of the bigger characters in the story literally and figuratively, but this big character comes off as kinda soft. There is usually in each story if there is a big guy he does something that makes them seem soft, i think Lennie is one of them characters that are kind of just a joke character.

  50. The main character George has caught my attention because it seems that he has a lot of different sides to him. George can be very rude and extremely harsh to Lennie but on the other hand he can be very caring towards Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 11 when Lennie wanted ketchup with his beans and George finally had enough with his bickering about ketchup and said, “God a’mighty, if I was alone I could live so easily. “ later on he added, “‘An’ whatta I got,” George went on furiously, “I got you!’” George can also be very caring to Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 12 when George finishes yelling at Lennie and Lennie suggests to leave George alone and he can go off by himself, George then says, “No—look! I was jus’ foolin’, Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me.” This makes George an interesting character because this shows that Lennie’s actions depend on the mood George has towards him.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he seems genuine and forward towards George and Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 14 on the PDF when George and Lennie first got to the ranch and Candy was giving them a heads up about Curley and says, “Don’t tell Curley I said none of this. He’d slough me. He just don’t give a damn. Won’t ever get canned ‘cause his old man’s the boss. This makes Candy an interesting character because it shows that he genuinely cares enough to warn new people about Curley so they won’t get in any trouble.

  51. One main character that caught my attention was Lennie because he’s a child in a grown man's body. An example of this was on page 13 when Lennie says, ““If you don’t want me, you only jus’ got to say so, and I’ll go off in those hills right there—right up in those hills and live by myself. An’ I won’t get no mice stole from me.” So far lennie has been shown as a character that can’t remember things and is obedient towards Gorge, yet in this part I find it interesting because this was the first time it was shown when Lennie had an advantage over Gorge that is seen as the smart one that controls Lennie. This makes it interesting because when George and Lennie met the minor characters, most of them paid attention to Lennie which makes me wonder if this may influence the relationship with Lennie and George.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he may seem like a random old guy with an old dog, but he’s cautious and gossipy. An example of him being cautious can be found on page 15 when it says "The old man was reassured. He had drawn a derogatory statement from George. He felt safe now, and he spoke more confidently ." Another example is on page 11 when it says, “The old swamper looked quickly at him, and then shuffled to the door rubbing his whiskers with his knuckles as he went. “Them guys just come,” he said, and shuffled past the boss and out the door.” He said the boss was a nice fella but he still reacted this way like he was scared. Whenever he talks about someone he says that they’re a “Hell of a nice fella”. The only person he didn’t say was a nice fella was Curly and Curley's wife, but before he talked about curly it says that he made sure that no one was listening. This makes Candy interesting because it seems like he’s the type that hides a true motive and I would like to know his back story and what’s his status in the ranch. He seems to be trustworthy, but he seems to know a lot about a lot of people and he talks about them with ease around two strangers.

  52. The main character Lennie had caught my attention because he is very gentle, caring, and can be pretty funny. An example of this can be found on page 6 when Lennie says,"I could pet it with my thumb while we walked along." This makes Lennie interesting because he doesn't care that the mouse is dead. He wants to care for the mouse and wants to pet it and care for the mouse in every way that he can. Even though he kills the mouse, he does the best that he can to be gentle and did not intend to kill the mouse. This also reveals how Lennie can be easily satisfied and entertained. This makes him interesting because it shows how oblivious Lennie is and shows how funny he may be. Lennie can be very unaware and forgetful even when he does not intend to be.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he seems to be very caring and willing to help others. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Candy says, “Well . . . . tell you what. Curley’s like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy. You seen little guys like that, ain’t you? Always scrappy?” This makes Candy interesting because he is willing to help George and Lennie. Candy is not supposed to be telling them this, but does this because he wants to help them. This will help George and Lennie keep themselves out of trouble. This also makes them aware of how Lennie may be treated. Candy continues to talk about everything that they should be aware of and continues to help them. Going forward, I would think he would help them as long as he does not get in trouble.

  53. One of the main characters that has caught my attention is Lennie because he has significantly more barriers or challenges to go through because he has a hard time remembering everything and doesn't know that much because he forgets everything. Also he can't keep a job because of how he acts around people and that he doesn't know what is right and wrong. An example is this is on page 22 "Lennie smiled to himself. "Strong as a bull," he repeated." When George told him to not talk at all.
One of the minor characters that has caught my attention is Candy because he has a small dog that he has kept for 10 years. This makes Candy interesting because he is the only character in the book that has a dog. An example of this can be found on page 24 when Candy says “”Yeah. I had ‘im since he was a pup. God, he was a good sheep dog when he was younger.””

  54. The main character George has caught my attention because even though George could leave Lennie he still chooses to stay with him. An example of this can be found on page 12 when it says "No look! I was just foolin, Lennie. Cause I want you to stay with me." This makes me also think that Lennie looks up to George, for example on page 4 it says “drew up his knees and embraced them. Lennie, who had been watching, imitated George exactly.” This clearly shows that Lennie looks up to George, because he is imitating him to make sure that he is doing everything right.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention, because when Curley first met George and Lennie he was telling them what to do. This is shown on page 25 when it says “Lennie was looking helplessly to George for instruction. And you won't let the big guy talk is that it? He can talk if he wants to tell you anything.” This shows Curley trying to force Lennie to talk. This also shows that Curley thinks that since his dad is the boss he can tell anyone what to do and boss them around.

  55. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is always getting into trouble even when he doesn't mean to and George always seems to have to save him. An example of this can be found on page 11 when George says “You get in trouble. You do bad things and I got to get you out.” This makes Lennie interesting because even though he tries to do what George says he still messes up and ends up in trouble and also ends up getting George in trouble as well.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he is very rude to others and wants to feel superior. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curley says “Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoken to.” This makes Curley interesting because he wants everyone to respect him and fear him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he doesn’t seem to mind George bad mouthing him, and still being with him . An example of this can be found on page 13 on the PDF when George says ““Be a damn good thing if you was,” George said viciously. “Save ever’body a hell of a lot of trouble.” “You said I was your cousin, George.” “Well, that was a lie. An’ I’m damn glad it was. If I was a relative of yours I’d shoot myself.” This makes Lennie interesting because he doesn’t say anything or talk back to George.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because it sounds like he cares about others and watching out for others, even workers. An example of this can be found on page 12 on the PDF when Candy says “The boss deliberately put the little book in his pocket. He hooked his thumbs in his belt and squinted one eye nearly closed. “Say—what you sellin’?” “Huh?” “I said what stake you got in this guy? You takin’ his pay away from him?” “No, ‘course I ain’t. Why ya think I’m sellin’ him out?” “Well, I never seen one guy take so much trouble for another guy. I just like to know what your interest is.” This makes Candy interesting because he’s curious and seems to be protective of Lennie making sure he isn’t being played his money.

  57. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because of his strong and outgoing personality and has a loving and kind soul even though he's got a mental disability. An example of this can be found on page 12 when Lennie says " I was only foolin', Geroge. I don't want no ketchup. I wouldn't eat no ketchup if it was right here besides me." " If it was here, you could have some." This shows how Lennie is sweet and caring because it demonstrates that all Lennie's wants is to be with his best friend and wants to share everything with his good pal Geroge. Even though he loves ketchup on his beans he wouldn't have some due to the fact that he was with Geroge and wanted to make sure George was satisfied.

The minor character Curley has got my attention because of how much of a hothead he is and thinks that he's the boss but in all reality he's just the boss son, he also reminds me a lot like Tybalt from Romeo and Juliet which caught my attention in this story. The description of Curley on page 25 very much connected to his personality. “ a young man came into the bunk- house; a thin young man with a brown face, with brown eyes and a head of tightly curled hair. He wore a work glove on his left hand, and, like the boss he wore high-heeled boots.” Now an example of his personality is on page 26 when Curley first met Lennie and George he started to tease and trying to get Lennie to talk even though I'm sure Curley knows not to poke the bear. After a short and quick conversation between Curley Lennie and Geroge Curley ends it by saying “ Well, nex’ time you answer when you're spoke to.” This makes it interesting because it shows how much he's into himself and how much he acts like the boss and tries to be as intimidating as POSSIBLE.

  58. The main character George has caught my attention because he shows how much he cares for Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 7 of the PDF when George says "‘Cause I want you to stay with me." This makes George interesting because he shows that even though he gets mad, annoyed and upset with Lennie he still cares about him. George helps Lennie with just about everything in his daily life to do things and help him because of his lack of intelligence.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he is very welcoming to the new people who go to the ranch including Lennie and George. An example of this can be found on page 14 of the PDF when Candy says “Don’t tell Curley I said none of this. He’d slough me. He just don’t give a damn. Won’t ever get canned ‘cause his old man’s the boss.” This makes Candy more interesting because it shows he is more welcoming to newcomers like George and Lennie.

  59. The main character George has caught my attention because he has his mind set on something and doesn't want anyone to get in his way and he makes sure Lennie doesn’t screw things up for him even if he is mean about it and it seems like he's willing to do anything for it. When he was talking to the boss he said that Lennie had been kicked in the head by a horse. George also said that Lennie was his cousin and that he told Lennie's old lady that he would take care of him.
Then minor character Carlson has caught my attention because the way he came in to the story and started talking about how he kill four of the nine pups because his dog couldn't feed that many and when he said he kept the biggest it made me think of breeder selection because he got rid of the weakest one so now when the other grow up they can be better and stronger.

  60. The main character George has caught my attention because of his mentality when it comes to taking care of Lennie. Lennie doesn’t try to hide the fact that without Lennie, he could be living a very normal life. On page 11 of the book George goes on a whole tangent and pretty much says they lost their lost job because of Lennie, and he tells him straight to his face “I could get along so easy and so nice if I didn't have you on my tail. I could live so easy and maybe have a girl.”, which shows just how frustrated George is with having to take on the caretaker role of Lennie, George for the most part puts Lennie’s needs above his own wants, shown by the fact that he’s still with Lennie, because if he didn’t care he very well could pack up and leave, but he doesn’t and I find that the most intriguing. It’s very obvious that George cares a lot about Lennie, shown by like I said the fact that he’s still there, but a not so obvious point is the fact that George in some sense needs Lennie. In chapter one while Lennie is retelling a part of the story George tells Lennie, he says “because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that’s why.”. George has admitted to Lennie previously that he does need Lennie, but it’s just not as obvious of a need as Lennie's need for George, and I find that side of the relationship very interesting, the non-obvious need of Lennie that George has.

The minor character that has caught my interest is Curley's Wife. Our interaction with her in chapter two is admittedly short, but to me the way she interacts with the people around her makes her a really interesting character. A lot of the interest I have in her comes from what we simply don’t know yet. I see no reason for her to be as lonely as she comes off to be, Candy mentions that the glove that Curley is shown to wear on his left hand is full of Vaseline to keep that hand soft for his wife, and that entire interaction just shows that Curley does give his wife attention, so why does she act like the opposite of what you’d expect from that type of interaction from her husband?

  62. The main character George has caught my attention because he is so mean to Lennie and even does George care for him a lot. An example of this can be found on page 11 when George says “God a’mighty if i was alone I could live so easy. “ Lennie knelt and looked over the fire at the angry George. This makes the book interesting because I wanna know how Geogre could be without Lennie and will they still be friends after all the mean and rude comments George made to Lennie.

The Minor character candy has caught my attention because he has one hand. An example of this can be found on page 18 when.” The door opened and said. He was sore as hell when you weren't here to go out this morning . He pointed his right arm and out of the sleeve came a round stick-like wrist but no hand. You can have them two beds there, he said indicating two bunks near the stove. This makes chapter 2 interesting because he is working with one hand and he has this old dog to and how everybody looks at the old makes him feel different .

  64. The main character George caught my attention because of the way he cares for Lennie but also does not want to be with him. This is shown in page 11 of the book when George goes on a rant about how life would be so much better without him. An example is when George says “ God a’mighty if I was alone I could live so easy”. He also talked about how without him he would have not have to worry about getting into trouble and that he could start living a normal life because of Lennie. George had to get out of situations as well as whenever George tried to get a girl he couldn't because of Lennie always messing him up. Lennie also took it hard and said that he would leave him and go live by himself if George would just say so but instead of George saying yes he still cares about him so he had to convince him that he was sorry and that he was just angry. This makes the book more interesting because there is a lot emotion that George has about Lennie and that he doesn't want to be mean and leave him because Lennie is like a brother to George and even through the hard times George still loves Lennie even after all the stuff that he has done that mad George mad.

The minor character Candy caught my attention because of the way he is wise and old and that he knows so much about the boss and the bosses son. I assume that he was on the ranch for awhile and that he knows a lot about what has been going on and what the people are like here. For example when he says “Well, . . . . tell you what. Curley’s like a lot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy.”(Page 14 of the PDF). Candy also talks about Curley's wife and how she is a tart which is saying that she is a like a hoe. Also that she is liking Lennie a little bit but George wants him to stay away from Curley and his wife. Candy also has a dog and it is his closest friend he had him since he was a pup and ever since they have been together forever.

  65. The main character George has caught my attention because of his need for money. An example of this can be found on page 32 when Lennie says “I don't like this place” and George replies and says “I hate this place just as much as you do but we need the money”. This makes George and his need for money Interesting because he would rather work a crappy job that both him and his travel partner Lennie hate with another person who's just trying to fight them and a boss that's already mad at them because they showed up late when in reality they really could just leave.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he is trying to be the toughest on the ranch. An example of this can be found on page 26 When Curly's is talking to Lennie and he starts getting all in Lennie's face saying “next time youre gonna speak when spoken to”. This makes Curly interesting because he had just met the new guys and he went straight to Lennie and started picking on him saying “ you will speak when spoken to” it makes me think that Curly is trying to stand up to lennie and show him who the biggest guy on the ranch really.

  66. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because of his intellectually challenge and how he thinks. An example of this can be found on page 5 of the book when Lennie says “it’s only a mouse, George.”
    “A mouse? A live mouse?”
“Uh-uh. Jus’ a dead mouse, George. I didn’t kill it. Honest! I found it. I found it dead.”
This makes Lennie interesting because Lennie pulled a dead mouse out of his pocket and he said he found it dead but later on he said he killed it because he rubbed the mouse's head with his finger and it bit him, he got angry and pinched the mouse’s head and killed it.

The minor character Candy/Old swamper has caught my attention because of his description and his dog. An example of this can be found on page 18 of the book when the author says “He pointed with his right arm, and out of the sleeve came a round stick-like wrist, but no hand” This makes Candy interesting because he only has one hand and he knows the ranch a lot so he guides George and Lennie around, another is it’s a old man with a dog very much like him and he also seems to eavesdrop on George and Lennie while they are talking in the house. He could be a main part of the story or just die of old age and not really mean anything.

  67. The main character George has caught my attention the most because he's such a complicated and confusing character. George is constantly putting down Lennie, degrading him and talking about how much better and easier his life would be without having Lennie as his responsibility, yet, he still decides to keep Lennie under his wing. An example of this could be found on page 12 of the book, when George says, “when I think of the swell time I could have without you, I go nuts. I never get no peace”. Lennie replies with his agreement and his willingness to leave, but on page 13 on the book George suddenly just takes it all back when he says, “No--look! I was jus’ foolin’, Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me”. This makes George interesting because it makes me wonder when he’ll break. When will he no longer take Lennie under his wing and when will he actually just let him leave on his own. Or if he even ever will.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention simply by the way he acts. He was just introduced to the story and straight off the bat he wants to pick a fight with Lennie; disabled and defenseless. An example of this can be found on page 29 when George says, “If he tangles with you, Lennie, we're gonna get the can. Don't make no mistake about that. He's the boss's son”. This makes curly interesting because since he is the boss’s son, he automatically has an advantage over Lennie, and George is well aware. This makes me wonder how far Curly will push Lennie. How far will his “power” take him and just how much can he get away with.

  68. The main character George has caught my attention because he just seems to want to live a simple life. An example of this can be found on page 7 of the book, when George says “ I could get along so easy and so nice if I didn’t have you on my tail. I could live so easy and maybe have a girl.” This makes George interesting because the thing stopping him from doing so is Lennie, who George chose to accompany.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he immediately tried to show that that he was the big dog to George and Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curley says “Well nex’ time you answer when you’re spoke to.” This makes Curley interesting because even though Curley didn’t know Lennie he still tried to show himself as in charge as shown above when he orders Lennie to speak when spoken to.

  69. The main character Lennie has caught my attention. Just because he is a fluffy, happy, shy character. For example is when he has the mouse in his pocket and is petting it just because it's fluffy, and cute it shows that he has a heats another example is when he begged George for a puppy from slim on page #36. This makes Lennie interesting because even with George not being happy with him or with Curley wanting to fight and pick on Lennie he still is the shy big guy who has a heart. This interests me on how he is the guy who wants to make sure people are ok with him and that he is doing more right than wrongs, and how he seems to go with the flow even when he forget something or ruins something and he seems to never want to do any harm. He also started to use his brain like on how he said he wants to leave on page #32-33 because he wasn't in a good situation with everything around him and this makes him more stronger of a character in this book showing he is growing and is breaking barriers and breaking habits making him more of a impactful character.

The minor character old swamper has caught my attention because he is a calm witted man. He doesn't say very much and he seems to be very nice and strict on what he wants like for example if the boss directs him to do something then he does it if Curley comes in and asks something he doesn't refuse. This makes him interesting because he starts to change and starts opening up about everything to Lennie and George and starts becoming more comfortable and trusts both of them and gives info on things when he knows he shouldn't cause he could get in trouble.

  70. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because of his disability.
An example of this can be found on page 4 when Lennie says that he forgot where they were going. George repeatedly tells Lennie that they are going to the ranch to work and Lennie still draws a blank.
This makes Lennie interesting because it shows that he is more of the odd one out than everyone else. Lennie is still a child on the inside and wants something soft to carry or take care of and this makes him unusual. George is more of a parent to Lennie than a brother because he is always taking care and watching out for him.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because it is said that he hates big people.
An example of this can be found on page 26 when the old man says "Curly’s like a lot of little guys. He hates big people "
This makes Curly interesting because as soon as he saw Lennie he already had this hatred for him. Since Curly is the boss’s son he feels as if he can get away with more things than the others can. Even though Curly is described as a “lightweight” he still has no problem picking fights with bigger people

  71. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems to be in charge of Lennie. An example of this can be seen on page 8 of the PDF file when George and Lennie are talking by the campfire, ““I . . . . I ain’t gonna . . . . say a word.” / “Good boy! That’s fine, Lennie! Maybe you’re gettin’ better. ””. This makes George interesting because he is telling Lennie what to do, I know that Lennie isn’t smart, but if you need to sneak into a job, then you probably shouldn’t be there.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he is trying to help George and Lennie but isn’t letting them get away for free. An example of this can be found on page 13 of the PDF file when George confronts Candy after talking to the boss, “You was pokin’ your big ears into our business,” George said. “I don’t like nobody to get nosey.” This makes Candy interesting because he seems to be helping George and Lennie and then he literally went behind their backs and got nosey with no known intention.

  72. The main character George has caught my attention because it seems as if George is a parent type of figure to Lennie.
An example of this can be found on page 13 when George says "I want you to stay with me Lennie.”
This makes George interesting because it seems as if he has to tell Lennie what to do with himself because of how slow Lennie is. Also this shows that George has to kinda take care of Lennie.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because He seems very harsh and is very straightforward.
An example of this can be found on page 14 when Curly says "By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoken to. What the hell are you getting’ into it for?” ."
This makes Curly interesting because he just met George and Lennie and he’s already acting like this to them. Curly just seems angry all the time

  73. The main character George has caught my attention because he seems like the big brother to Lennie and cares about him. An example of this can be found on page 3 when George says ””Lennie!” he said sharply. “Lennie, for god sake don't drink so much”". This makes George interesting because right from the beginning we can see that George is looking out for Lennie and cares about him like a big brother would. This will be a big conflict in the rest of the story.

The minor character, The farmer has caught my attention because he is different then all the rest. We meet him at the beginning of chapter 2 and he seems different then are two main protagonists George and Lennie. “The wooden latch raised. The door opened and a tall, stoop-shouldered old man came in. He was dressed in blue jeans and he carried a big push-broom in his left hand. Behind him came George, and behind George, Lennie. “The boss was expectin’ you last night,” the old man said. At this point we can get a pretty good idea of what the farmer looks like and what he has to deal with. He's a hard worker and he took care of the place. This makes him interesting because he is a character who works hard and is tough.

  74. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because although he forgets a lot of different things, he tries to remember but it is hard for him. An example of this can be found on page 6 when George says: “That ranch we’re goin’ to is right down there about a quarter mile. We’re gonna go in an’ see the boss. Now, look—I’ll give him the work tickets, but you ain’t gonna say a word. You jus’ stand there and don’t say nothing. If he finds out what a crazy bastard you are, we won’t get no job, but if he sees ya work before he hears ya talk, we’re set. Ya got that?” “Sure, George. Sure I got it.” “O.K. Now when we go in to see the boss, what you gonna do?” “I . . . . I . . . .” Lennie thought. His face grew tight with thought. “I . . . . ain’t gonna say nothin’. Jus’ gonna stan’ there.” “Good boy. That’s swell. You say that over two, three times so you sure won’t forget it.” Lennie droned to himself softly, “I ain’t gonna say nothin’ . . . . I ain’t gonna say nothin’ . . . . I ain’t gonna say nothin’.” This makes Lennie intresting because you can tell he’s trying but feels bad because it irritates people that he’s not the brightest.

The minor character that has caught my attention is Curleys wife because shes such a flirtatious woman although she is married. An example of this is on page 31 when it says: “She smiled archly and twitched her body. “Nobody can’t blame a person for lookin’,” she said. There were footsteps behind her, going by. She turned her head. “Hi, Slim,” she said.” This makes her interesting because since shes married you'd think that she wouldn't be so flirtatious but she is.

  75. The main character George has caught my attention because of the way he treats Lennie differently than others but he knows his conditions and he is also helping him. An example of this can be found on page 4 when “ I forgot,” Lennie said softly. “I tried not to forget. Honest to God I did, George.” “O.K. O.K I’ll tell you again. I ain’t got nothing to do. Might jus’ as well spen’ all my time tellin’ you. This makes George interesting because he is willing to go out his way to help and deal with lennie problems.

The minor character curly caught my attention because of how rude he acted towards lennie. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curly says “ By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he's spoken to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes Curly interesting because he doesn’t even know who Lenneie and george is and he’s being rude to them for not speaking.

  76. The main character George has caught my attention because he is mad all the time. An example of this can be found on page 4 when George says “ We could just as well of rode clear to the ranch if that bastard bus driver knew what he was talkin about.” This makes George interesting to read about because everything that happens whether good or bad he looks at the bad side of things.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he’s really rude and egotistical. An example of this can be found on page 26 When he demands George to let Lennie speak for himself. “Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoke to” This makes Curly interesting because he is a small guy who thinks he is bigger than others.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The main character George has caught my attention because even though Lennie annoyes George all the time and is the biggest pain for George he still takes care of him. This is seen on page 7 after George blows up on Lennie, “ No—look! I was jus’ foolin’, Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me”. This makes George interesting because, even though he blows up on Lennie he feels like it is responsibilty to take care of him.

The minior character Curley has caught my attention because of how much of a jerk he is towards other characters in the story. An example of this can be found on page “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?”. Curley is expressing this statement towards Lennie. This makes curley interesting because Curley doesn’t know who Lennie is at all this is there first interacton and he is already being snotty towards Lennie.

  80. the main character that caught my attention was Lennie because he was a not like any other character that is in the book because of his mental disability and in the book how he wants to be like George like on page 4 "Lennie, who had been watching, intimidated George exactly." he is also different because in the book it is expected of him to mess up like in there past town weed where they got ran out of town because he grabbed a girls dress because it was soft and when she tried to run away Lenny grabbed her dress tighter not letting her go

the minor character that caught my attention the most was Curly he mainly caught my attention for the fact that he was a smaller man and he got into a lots of fights with people that where bigger than him because like he said in the book he did not like taller people and and another reason that he caught my attention was because he is smaller and he likes get into lots of fights to prove to his wife and to himself that he is good enough

  82. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because I feel like something is gonna happen to Lennie because for an example on page 11 when it says "I got you! You cant keep a job and you lose me ever' job I get. Jus' keep me shovlin' all over the country all the time" This makes Lennie interesting because without Lennie would George have more of a successful life and wouldn't have to lose jobs.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he feels like more of the bad guy in the story. An example of this can be found on page 26 “Curley’s pretty handy. He don't quite a bit in the ring. He’s a lightweight, and he’s handy”. This makes Curley interesting because that means he likes to fight a lot which means he makes a lot of trouble.

  83. The main character George has caught my attention because of how rude he is to everyone like on page 24 when he said "Well, that was a lie. An' I'm damn glad it was. If I was a relative of yours i'd shoot myself." This was interesting because George is always being a jerk and insulting Lennie but still helps him.

The minor character curley has caught my attention because he is trying to impress his wife and he is always trying to pick a fight with guys that are larger than he is. An example of this can be found on page 25 when curley says “Let the big guy talk.” or when he says “By christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoken to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes curley interesting because he’s trying hard to get into a fight with Lennie only because he’s double curley’s size.

  84. Lennie really desires to be alone on a farm with him and George. He really wants this because he has animals like the rabbits that he can pet. Things like his mental disability are getting in the way because it causes him to forget everything and making things difficult. Lennie feels really happy but really sad at the same time, because he is trying his best to make people happy but is not doing a good job at it most of the time.

The Minor character Candy has caught my attention because he is a nice guy and actually wants George and Lennie to have a good time working there. An example of this is on page 18 when he says,"You can have them two beds there.". This makes Candy interesting because on this entire page he is helping out George and Lennie and telling them things about the people they will work with. While every other character has been not the nicest to them. I think that Candy sees the world in a pretty good way. He thinks his situation on the ranch is pretty good.

  85. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is such a big guy but he is so nice and gentle with animals. An example of this can be found on page 22 when Lennie says "'Give ‘um to me, George. I’ll take ‘um back. I didn’t mean no harm, George. Honest I didn’t. I jus’ wanted to pet ‘um a little. "This makes Lennie interesting because i thought he would be more of a tough guy but he is a real softie for animals and people.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he does not want to kill his dog. An example of this can be found on page 18 when Carlson says "“Well, looka here, Slim. I been thinkin’. That dog of Candy’s is so God damn old he can’t hardly walk. Stinks like hell, too. Ever’ time he comes into the bunk house I can smell him for two, three days. Why’n’t you get Candy to shoot his old dog and give him one of the pups to raise up? I can smell that dog a mile away. Got no teeth, damn near blind, can’t eat. Candy feeds him milk. He can’t chew nothing else." This makes Candy interesting because I thought he would be a really mean guy and say okay i'll kill my dog but he said ”No, I couldn’t do that. I had ‘im too long.”

  86. The main character George has caught my attention as a main character because of how much of a responsible leader he is. An example of this is can be found of pages 39-34 when George was talking to slim, telling him about what happened in weed and how he had to pull Lennie and himself out of trouble when Lennie had a misunderstanding. In weed Lennie grabbed a girls dress to feel the soft fabric and she freaked out because she was afraid of Lennie. She went to the sheriff and told him Lennie tried to hurt her, when George found Lennie word had spread and people were out to get him. George took it upon himself to save Lennie risking his hide for him. This makes George interesting because this short part of the story really shows how compassionate George is toward Lennie and that there is a deeper relation ship between the two. Perhaps the author will go into deeper explanation latter in the story of the strong bond between them.
The minor character Slim has caught my attention because of how kind he is towards new comers. An example on page 34 "Hope you get on my team, he said. His voice was very gentle". This makes Slim interesting because he has no idea who these guys are or what they've done, and treats them with respect and kindness. This really reflects his soft personality and that treating others with compassion shows just the type of character Slim is.

  87. The main character George has caught my attention because Despite being a smaller more pudgy guy he still takes charge and leads people who are bigger than him. An example of this can be found on page 8 and page 15 when George tells Lennie "Gi'me the mouse!" and "Well, look Lennie if you jus' happen to get in to trouble like you always done before, I want you to come right here an' hide in the brush." This makes George interesting because he is the one in charge despite being smaller and weaker as well as fatter.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he seems like he will cause things to go wrong because hes mean to George and Lennie despite his small stature. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curly says "By Christ, he's gotta talk when hes spoken to. what the H*** are you gettin' into it for."
This makes Curly interesting because I think he might end up causing trouble for George and Lennie.

  88. The main character George caught my attention because in the story even though lenie has the disability george stills puts up with him and takes care of him. It shows on page seven after George angrily goes off on Lenie “No look I was just’ foolin’. Lenie’ cuz I want you to stay with me”. Which makes George very interesting because he went off on him but he's his responsibility to take care of him.

The Minor character curley has caught my attention because of how bad or jerk he is towards thy other characters in the story “what the hell are you gettin’ into it for?”. Curley is showing(expressing his emotions statement towards lenie. Which is weird because curley and lenie dont know eachother and curley is being mean towards lenie.

  89. The main character George has caught my attention because he has to take care of Lennie. AN example is on page 5, His hands went quickly down into his coat pockets. He said gently, “George… I ain’t got mine. I musta lost it. He looked down at the ground in despair. “You never had none, you crazy b******. I got both of em’ here. Think I’d let you carry your own work card?” This stands out because George could easily leave Lennie at any time but he chooses to stick with him. George also has to make sure that Lennie doesn't get them into anymore trouble. An example is on page 11 when Lennie said, “Jus’ wanted to feel that girl’s dress-Jus’ wanted to pet it like it was a mouse.” Lennie grabbed her dress because it was soft and Lennie finds soft things relaxing to him.
The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he acts tough and he also acts like the boss, even though he’s the boss's son. An example is on page 25, “You the new guys the old man’s waitin’ for?” “We just come in,” said George. “Let the big guy talk.” Lennie twisted with embarrassment. “S’pose he don’t want to talk?” Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the heck are you gettin’ in for?” Curly is trying to act tough even though he’s small, wears a glove full of vaseline and not even the boss of the ranch.

  90. The main charater George has caught my attention because in the story he shows how much he care for him and how he will do anything for Lennie. An example of this can be founded on page 13 when Lennie says "About the rabbits." This makes George interesting because the books show that George will do anything for Lennie just to make him happy, and he will always watch over him just like his aunt even when he says that he wish he was free from Lennie, but will always protect him.

The minor charater Curley has caught my attention because in the story he is so rude to Lennie because he wasn't talking and nobody like him and his wife in the story and they talk about them with Candy. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley says " Let the big guy talk. " This makes it interesting because that just rude, just because Curley the boss's son does mean he has to be rude to others. How Candy says that Curley only like little guys, and he hates bigs guys and gets mad at them.

  91. The main character Lennie has caught my attention in the story because he has a disability. This disability was unknown at the time this book was written.
A minor character I'm using is Curley. He is the boss's son and he is thought to be pretty handy by George. This is shown on page 26 when the old man says “Curleys pretty handy he done quite a bit in the ring. He's a lightweight and is handy” he must be pretty useful.

  92. The main character Geroge had caught my attention because how he deals with Lennie is interesting. An example of this can be found on page 3 when Lennie forgets where they are going and it says “O.K—O.K. I’ll tell ya again. I ain’t got nothing to do. Might jus’ as well spen’ all my time tellin’ you things and then you forget ‘em, and I tell you again.” This makes Geroge interesting because he seems irritated because of Lennie but at the end of the day Geroge still loves Lennie like a brother.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he seems like he might actually be soft and put up an act about being this tough person. An example of this can be found on page 14 when the old man came back in and was telling them about Curley. The swamper considered . . . . “Well . . . . tell you what. Curley’s like alot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy.” This makes Curley interesting because he likes to act like he’s all tough but he really could be going through something or just soft.

  93. The main character George has caught my attention because of the way he deals with his partner and friend Lenny. An example of this can be found on page 5 when Lenny comes back with a mouse and George says “You know God damn well what. I want that mouse.” but also when he says on page 6 when he says “No—look! I was jus’ foolin’, Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me. Trouble with mice is you always kill ‘em.” This makes George interesting because Lenny is not only annoying but a huge liability to George. George is getting Lenny out of situations and i can see why George gets angry but he always comes back and feels bad for going off on Lenny because Lenny made him mad. This is interesting because no matter how mad George gets at lenny or how much of a problem Lenny becomes for George, George always comes back to Lenny making up and helping him. The minor character Candy has caught my attention because he was the first person Lenny and George talked to and met at the ranch. Candy also seemed nice and honest but also like he knew how to get a job done. He also seemed to care a lot for everyone and was kind to Lenny and George. An example of one of these things can be found on page 15/16 when the swamper warmed to the gossip. “You seen that glove on his left hand?” “Yeah. I seen it.” “Well, that glove’s fulla vaseline.” “Vaseline? What the hell for?” “Well, I tell ya what—Curley says he’s keepin’ that hand soft for his wife.” George studied the cards absorbedly. “That’s a dirty thing to tell around,” he said. The old man was reassured. He had drawn a derogatory statement from George. He felt safe now, and he spoke more confidently. “Wait’ll you see Curley’s wife.” This makes candy interesting because he had seemed to take a liking to George and Lenny. Candy feels comfortable talking around them and sharing his opinions. They even joke around and agree on things like friends in a way.

  94. The main character George has caught my attention because he is a strong headed person and he has a hot temper. An example of this can be found on page 2 when it says “Lennie!” he said sharply. “Lennie, for God’ sakes don’t drink so much.”. This makes George interesting because George has a hot temper when someone does something that he doesn’t like.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he is rude and acts big and bad. An example of this can be found on the start of page 14 where it says Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoken to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” this makes Curley interesting because George and Lennie haven’t done anything they just got there and Curly is already trying to act bog and tough around them and he is also mean to Lennie by saying he has to talk when spoken to

  95. The main character George caught my attention because he is a very good friend to Lennie. At the end of the PDF's second page, and beginning of the third, George says sharply to Lennie, "Lennie..! Lennie, for God’ sakes don’t drink so much... Lennie. You gonna be sick like you was last night.” Lennie is much more simple-minded than George and other people they may have met, and it shows a lot about George. Even though we see in George’s dialogue how much he dislikes Lennie, saying things like “You can jus’ as well go to hell.., shut up now,” he still time and time again provides for Lennie, showing patience that lots of other guys in the story likely wouldn’t have.

A minor character that caught my attention was the Whitey. “This here blacksmith—name of Whitey—was the kind of guy that would put that stuff around even if there wasn’t no bugs—just to make sure, see? Tell you what he used to do—At meals he’d peel his boil’ potatoes, an’ he’d take out ever’ little spot, no matter what kind, before he’d eat it.” There isn’t really anything significant about this as of right now, but could lead to events with main characters in the future, maybe with them being more careful about what they do. Please reply if you could add anything to this, just my thoughts.

  96. The main character George has caught my attention because he is not afraid to speak his mind during certain situations. An example of this can be found on page end of 5 start of 6 when George says "You crazy son-of-a-*****. You keep me in hot water all the time." This makes George interesting because Lennie get them both in trouble all the time and George has to get them both out of the situation. But he says this out of frustration and anger because of Lennie and full on calls Lennie a "...crazy son-of-a-*****." The minor character "Boss" has caught my attention because he seems to have a bad habit of either putting words in other peoples mouths or assumes a lot.
An example of this can be found on page 12 when the Boss says "I said what stake you got in this guy? You takin’ his pay away from him?."
This makes the Boss interesting because he like to assume what people are or what they are doing.

  97. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he clearly has a mental disability. An example of this can be found on page 6 when george says, “ “You remember where we’re goin’ now?” Lennie looked startled and then in embarrassment hid his face against his knees. “I forgot again.” “. This makes Lennie interesting because him fogetting something could create conflict later in the story.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he is the bosses son and can fight. An example of this is on page 14 when the swamper is talking to georg and says ““That’s the boss’s son,” he said quietly. “Curley’s pretty handy. He done quite a bit in the ring. He’s a lightweight, and he’s handy.” This makes Curley intersting because it means that he might fight somebody during the story.

  98. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he has a mental disorder. An example of this can be found on page 9 when Lennie had a dead mouse and was petting it. Lennie says, “I wasn’t doin’ nothing bad with it, Georg. Jus’ strokin’ it.” This makes Lennie interesting because it shows how Lennie likes animals and how he thinks. He also mentions the rabbits by the river. He loves animals. The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he treats people the wrong way. This can be found on page 26 when he talks to Lennie but Lennie doesn’t say anything back. “Well nex’ time you answer when you're spoken to.” This makes Curley interesting because he thinks that he can boss everyone around, when he doesn’t really have much power at the ranch.

  99. The main charecter Lennie has caught my attention because he acts like a small kid an example of this can be found on page 3 when he says. dipped his whole head under, hat and all, and then he sat up on the bank and his hat dripped down on his blue coat and ran down his back. “That’s good,” he said. “You drink some, George. You take a good big drink.” He smiled happily. This makes it interesting because it shows you how childish is he is

  100. One of the main characters that catches my attention is Lenny because he is unaware that he is actually useful to George because he is big and strong and helps him work.Even though his disability impairs him from having common sense he is physically strong which helps George get them jobs.
An example of this can be seen on page 12 when the boss is questioning George and Lenny about their work history. He notices that Lenny isn't talking so George says “The boss pointed a playful finger at Lennie. “He ain’t much of a talker, is he?” “No, he ain’t, but he’s sure a hell of a good worker. Strong as a bull.” Lennie smiled to himself. “Strong as a bull,” he repeated. George scowled at him, and Lennie dropped his head in shame at having forgotten. The boss said suddenly, “Listen, Small!” Lennie raised his head. “What can you do?” In a panic, Lennie looked at George for help. “He can do anything you tell him,” said George. “He’s a good skinner. He can rassel grain bags, drive a cultivator. He can do anything. Just give him a try.”. This is how they prove to their boss using Lenny's physical character that they are hard workers. This is why Lenny is an interesting character to me.

The minor character Candy catches my attention because of how he sees the situation he lives in.Even though he gets paid little and lives in a barn he is still happy with his dog.He shows the good side of his boss even though he puts them in bad work conditions. An example of this can be seen on page 10 when he says “The old swamper shifted his broom and held it between his elbow and his side while he held out his hand for the can. He studied the label carefully. “Tell you what—” he said finally, “last guy that had this bed was a blacksmith—hell of a nice fella and as clean a guy as you want to meet. Used to wash his hands even after he ate.”.This shows he is very optimistic because even though they all live in a barn with straw beds, he at least knows there aren't any bugs or filth due to the blacksmith that lived there before them.

  101. The main character George has caught my attention because he really tries to help Lennie because Lennie is not as smart as most people. An example of this can be found when George throws Lennie's mouse away because it’s kind of strange that he was petting a dead mouse, George was looking out for Lennie because he probably killed the mouse. He’s trying to watch out for Lennie so that other people don’t know he kills things, by accident or not. This makes George interesting because he tries so hard to help Lennie.

The minor character Lennie has caught my attention because he depends on George to help him alot as he can't take care of himself . An example of this can be found when George comments that Lennie can not survive on his own. This makes Lennie interesting because Lennie knows he can't be on his own and George also knows this as well, and he doesn’t take advantage of it.

  102. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because Lennie is nice and a funny character. An example of this can be found on page 4 on the pdf when Lennie says “I know there ain’t. You got it in your hand. What you got in your hand— hidin’ it?” “I ain’t got nothin’, George. Honest.” “Come on, give it here.” Lennie held his closed hand away from George’s direction. “It’s on’y a mouse, George.” “A mouse? A live mouse?” This makes Lennie interesting because he has an addiction with petting animals and dead things which adds a bit of humor.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he's kinda bossy and blunt against others. An Example of this can be found on page 14 of the pdf it states “ He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys,” and “Seems like Curley is cockier’n ever since he got married.” This makes curley interesting because he acts like a tough guy and is confident.

  104. The main character George has caught my attention because he cares about Lennie in a way that makes it seem like he is his son even though Lennie is someone very hard to deal with; George is very hopeful that Lennie will get better over time and not ruin all their jobs. An example of this can be found on page 11 when George says "Whatever we ain't got, that's what you want. God a’ mighty if I was alone I could live so easy. I could get a job an’ work, an’ no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cat house all night, I could eat any place I want, hotel or or any place, and order any damn thing I could think of.
This makes George interesting because even though George treats Lennie very roughly he doesn't want to let him go by himself because he still cares about him

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he acts weird when George and Lennie arrive at the ranch instead of welcoming them he acts mad towards Lennie because he is a big boy and that makes him jealous. Another thing about Curley is that he feels like he is the boss of the ranch but one obstacle is his dad because he is the boss of the ranch.

  105. The main character Lenny has caught my attention because he is big and strong and Curly thinks that he could beat Lenny up. An example of this can be found in the beginning of the book where Curly is introduced into the story. This makes it more interesting because what if Lennie and Curley fight in the story? BTW: Idc how bad this is I just wanted it done.

  106. The main character Geroge has caught my attention because he has the same role/responsibility as me. By responsibility he has to commit the identical actions as I do to take care of someone. An example of this can be found on page 14 when George says, “We got somebody to talk to that gives a darn about us”.This makes Of mice and men interesting because it puts the reader in the character's perspective of what is happening and how they can relate. What makes it great that they look after each other is because in the ranch and the old ranch it was every man of themselves .

The minor character curly has caught my attention because he is a hothead also he has a strong personailty. An example of this can be found on page 25 when curly says, “ He can talk if he wants talk to you “.This makes Of Mice and Men interesting because it shows barriers of what the main characters have to go through .

  107. The main character George has caught my attention because he is an adult between him and Lenny .
An example of this can be found on page 32 when George says "well, you keep away from her ‘cause she's a rat trap if i've ever seen one."
This makes George interesting because he's controlling Lenny and protecting him.

The minor character Curley's wife has caught my attention because she's flirty.
An example of this can be found on page 31 when Curley's wife says "nobody can blame a person for looking ."
This makes curley's wife interesting because it shows she might get Lenny in trouble .

  108. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he's like a little kid and he's easily distracted .
An example of this can be found on page 4 when Lennie forgot where they were going then he says "where we goin’, George?". This makes Lennie interesting because it shows that maybe not all of his common sense can always be seen because he has the mind of a little kid.

The minor character George has caught my attention because he seems mean but inside of him, his heart is very friendly and nice. An example of this can be found on page 22 when George tells the boss "No, he ain’t, but he’s sure a hell of a good worker." . This makes George interesting because he wants to help Lennie make money and he knows if people find out why Lennie doesn't talk they might not want him to work but if the find out he's a hard worker before the truth comes out they most likely will trust him.

  109. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because George doesn’t let Lennie talk to anyone. An example of this can be found on page 12 of the PDF when George says “I’ll give him the work tickets, but you ain’t gonna say a word. You jus’ stand there and don’t say nothing.” this makes Lennie interesting because Lennie will have to talk sometime and I wonder what the outcome will be.

The minor character Curey has caught my attention because he is trying to get into a fight or provoke Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 14 in the PDF when Curley says “Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoke to.” This makes Curley interesting because he is trying to get into a fight with a guy much bigger than him.

  110. The main character gorge has caught my attention because he starts calling lennie dumb and just yelling at him cause he doesnt understand and that he is special an example of this can be found on page 4 when gorge turns around and starts getting really mad say” you forgot didnt ya”.and than goes and and calls him crazy bastard and than goes on and blames lennie for his life saying he can’t get a girl this makes gorge intresting because all gorge does is pick on lennie and just takes care of him and he builds tention between the both of them.

The minor charcter curley hs caught my attetion because he trys to pick a fight with lennie and lennie does nothing because he doesn’t want to get fired on the first day an example of this can be found on page 25 and 26 when he says talk when you spoken to and then trys and get lennie to talk and this makes curley intresting because he just starting drama and being a pest trying to make him talk he does just says 3 words.

  111. The main character George has caught my attention because he is so responsible and loving and caring, especially to Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 5 (in the book) when George basically tells Lennie that it's not normal to walk around with a dead mouse in his pocket. "A dead mouse? Give it here! Aw,leave me have it."This makes George interesting because it makes me wanna know if they are siblings or is he like a guardian for him and it just makes him.

The minor character Curley's wife has caught my attention because she's seema always,down-and-out.for an example of this can be found on page 31, when she starts to leave the boys.”she smiled archly and twitched her body. Nobody can't blame a person for lookin, she said “this shows that she was asking for attention,Like throwing her body around for boys and instead of her husband. (being in the spotlight)(middle of attention).

  112. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because not just of his disability but because of his personality. I say this because early in chapter 1 we see a side of Lennie that is a goofball and all he wants is to be loved and to be with George. But then, more close to the end of chapter 1 going into chapter 2, we find out that when he was younger. His aunt would give him mice to pet in his pocket, but he would always end up killing them because they hurt him. This makes Lennie interesting because he is not aware of who he is or what he can do. I say this because he acts like a child and his actions don’t always match his intentions. For example, when Lennie and George were working on the last ranch he reached for a girl and wouldn’t let go because she was pretty, immediately the girl was scared and she thought Lennie was going to hurt her.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he is fairly small and hates big people so automatically he hates Lennie without even giving him a chance. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curly was getting in George's face for not letting Lennie speak so Curly says, “ By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoken to. What the hell are you gettin’ into for?” This makes Curly interesting because not only is he getting in Lennie’s face but he’s also getting in George’s face for not having Lennie talk for himself. Curly makes it very clear to Lennie and George even though he’s the boss's son he likes to take orders and have everything run his way he doesn't like things that become out of place.

  113. The main character George has caught my attention because he wants to be good to Lennie but he gets frustrated by him. An example of this can be found on page 9 of the book. George yelled at Lennie for blubberin like a baby! After he yelled at Lennie he said. “Aw Lennie I ain’t takin’ it away jus’for meanness. That mouse ain’t fresh,Lennie; and besides, you’ve broke it pettin, it. You get another mouse that’s fresh and I’ll let you keep it a while.” This makes George interesting because even though he gets so mad at Lennie George feels bad after because he is taking care of Lennie like if he was a little brother to him and doesn't want to make him sad.

The minor character Candy has caught my attention because the way he is calm and not as hated as the other guys. An example of this can be on page 24 when the boss just got done talking to George and Lennie and Candy was swiping and minding his own business and not listing in their convocation he tells George, “I didn’t hear nothing you guys was saying.” This shows that he's not a tattle tell and respects people's business.

  114. The main character George has caught my attention because he is probably the most complex characters in the story how he has to make a living for himself while kind of babysitting Lennie at the same time. An example of this could be found on page 15 when George has to tell Lennie what to say to the boss after he messed up and talked. This makes George interesting because it kind of showed how George has to help Lennie do everything even when its as simple as keeping his mouth shut.

The minor character curly has caught my attention because of the way he acts toward everyone in kind of a bad way for no reason. An example of this can be found on page 14 when curly says “curly lashed his body around by christ hes got to talk when talked to” also on page 14 “he been worse lately, he got married a couple weeks ago and his wife lives at the bosses house, seems like curly has been cockier ever since hes gotten married.” this makes curly interesting to me because it doesnt really show that he has a mean aproach to people but it shows that hes not people really enjoy being around because of the way he acts.

  115. The main character George has caught my attention because he is extremely mean, but also extremely caring to Lennie. It seems like he’s constantly being put down, and an example of this can be found on page 12. George said “When I think of the swell time I could have without you, I go nuts. I never get no peace”.
He is basically saying how much he would enjoy some peace and quiet without having Lennie be his needy shadow 24/7. This makes George interesting because he still puts up the fight to take care of him.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he comes out in an aggressive tone. I found a part of page 25 where he says “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” This makes Curly interesting because the way he comes out aggressive and mean, but Curly might just think its being respectful and showing manners.

  117. The main character George has caught my attention because we help Lennie and take care of him and do not leave him. An example of this can be found on page 12 when Lennie said “If you don’t want me I can go off in the hills and’ find a cave I can go any time.” And George said ‘No look I was just fooling”. This makes it interesting because George really cares about Lennie and would not let anything happen to him even if he does not show it he still cares.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he thinks he is better than everyone but he really is not. An example of this can be found on pg.25 when he said “Let the big guy talk”. And he also said “By Christ he’s gotta talk when he’s spoken to”. This makes it interesting because it's rude and anything he says is rude and not nice to people. He thinks he is better than other people but he really is not. He thinks he is a big guy and is better than other people.

  118. The main character George has caught my attention because he's sometimes rude to Lennie but then feels bad and has mixed emotions through the first two chapters. He also caught my attention because he has a kind heart and is taking care of Lennie. An example of George reconsidering taking care of Lennie is on page 11 where he says, "If I was alone I could live so easy. I could get a job and work with no trouble. No mess at all." Then in page 13 he says "No look! I was just foolin, Lennie. Cause I want you to stay with me." Even though George seems like he's burden he still cares for Lennie. An example of George taking care of Lennie is on page 3 where it says "Lennie, for god sakes don't drink so much." This make it interesting because it shows that even if George is mean to Lennie and doesn't want him to be with him he still cares for him in the end and wants Lennie to be with him.

The minor character Curley caught my attention because he acts like if he's the boss of everything and runs everything when in reality his dad is the boss of the place. An example of this can be found on page 25 when it says “Curley stepped gingerly close to him. ‘You the new guys the old man was waiting for?’ ‘we just came in,’ said George. ‘Let the big guy talk.’ ” This makes it interesting because Curly is trying to act like he owns the place and if he were the boss of everyone and it could lead on to a big conflict in the story.

  119. The main character George has caught my attention because he can be rude to Lennie sometimes but then he apologizes because he really wants to help Lennie and doesn't want to leave him. One example of this can be found on page 13 when he says “No - Look! I was jus’ foolin’ Lennie. ‘Cause I want you to stay with me.” This tells us that George cares about Lennie because he wants to take care of him even though he can be a burden.
The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he thinks he’s big and tuff. He acts tuff around big guys like Lennie; an example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley say’s, “ Let the big guy talk “ and then proceeds to say “ By Christ, he's gotta talk when he's spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for? “ This shows that Curley doesn’t like Lennie, and wants to show that he is bigger and better than him. George doesn’t like Curley because he doesn't want Lennie to get in trouble with the bosses son, and even though Curley is small he is a jerk to Lennie just because he is big. This makes Curley interesting because I think that later in the story he will get crazier with his hate against Lennie.

  120. The minor character Curley caught my attention because he was mean to George and Lennie even when he first met them. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley walked into the bunkhouse as Lennie and George were talking to Candy and he says “you the new guys the old man was waitin’ for?” George responded with “we just came in” and then Curley retaliated with “let the big guy talk.” this makes the conversation interesting because I think Curley knew that Lennie has some sort of disability and just wanted to pick on him a little.

  121. The main character George has caught my attention because of the way he treats Lennie differently, from other people. An exmaple of this can be found on page 6 when he says “ya got that” George said “Sure ,George. Sure I got it. “O.K. now when we go in to see the boss, what you gonna do?. George said. “I… I,” Lennie thought. His face grew tight with thought. “I… ain’t gonna say nothin. jus’ gonna stan’ there” Lennie said. “Good boy” That’s swell. You say that over 2, 3 times so you sure won’t forget it”. Lennie droned himself softly “I ain’t gonna say nothin”... I ain’t gonna say nothin’... I ain’t gonna say nothin’.” he repeated. This makes George intresting because of how he treats Lennie different than other people, not in a rude way he just helps him a bit more, because he cares about him and wants to protect him.

  122. The main character George caught my attention because he takes care of Lennie but does not really like him. An example of this is on page 24 when George says “Well, that was a lie. An’ I’m damn glad it was. If I was a relative of yours I’d shoot myself.” This makes George interesting because he feels bad for Lennie but he wants his own life.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he likes to pick fights. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curly says “Let the big guy talk.” This makesCurly interesting because he is the boss's son and if he makes workers mad and they quit he will be in trouble.

  123. The main character George has caught my attention because he always takes care of Lennie and tells him what to do. An example of this can be found on page 10 when George says “You gonna get that wood?” This makes George interesting because it adds another aspect to the story and makes the story more interesting.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he acts like he is the boss of everyone. An example of this can be found on page 26 when Curley says “Well nex’ time you answer when you're spoken to.” This makes Curley interesting because he adds more of a father roll to the story.

  124. The main character George has caught my attention because he cares for Lennie. An example of this happens on Page 9 when Lennie had a dead mouse in his pocket, he had it because it helped him relax. But when George found out about it he took the mouse and threw it. This means that George always has to take care of Lennie. Another example happens on page 12When Lennie asks George if he should leave “George, you want I should go away and leave you alone?”. George could have let Lennie walk away but he told him to stay.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he seems to get involved with lots of drama.
An example of this happens on page27. Curley believes he has to fight bigger men to be tougher when that simply isn't the case. This was Georges responds “Well, he better watch out for Lennie. Lennie ain’t no fighter, but Lennie’s strong and quick and Lennie doesn't know no rules.” This makes Curley interesting because George and Lennie are innocent people yet for some reason he still wants to fight them.

  125. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because of his memory problem. An example of this can be found on page 2 when George said to Lenny "“So you forgot that awready, did you? I gotta tell you again, do I? Jesus Christ, you’re a crazy bastard!” “I forgot,” Lennie said softly. “I tried not to forget. Honest to God I did, George.” This makes it interesting because I wonder how his memory is gonna affect him throughout the book.

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because Candy all ways like to pick on people that are taller than him to look tuff. An example of this can be found on page 14 when Candy says "Curley’s like alot of little guys. He hates big guys. He’s alla time picking scraps with big guys. Kind of like he’s mad at ‘em because he ain’t a big guy." This makes me wonder if Curley will still pick on people, mostly Lennie.

  126. The main character that caught my attention was George because he has been there for Lennie and even when Lennie always makes it hard for George. An example for this can be found on page 13 when it says “
I want you to stay with me,Lennie.Jesus Christ, somebody’d shoot you for a coyote if you were by yourself.Your Aunt Clara wouldn’t like you running off by yourself, even if she is dead.”This makes George interesting because Lennie is always getting in trouble and getting distracted and Its kind that George still sticks with Lennie when he can leave Lennie behind.

The minor character That caught my attention was Slim because he had a dog with puppies. He killed some of the puppies because his dog could not feed all of them. An example of this can be found on PDF page 19 when Lennie says ““You ask him right away, George, so he won’t kill no more of ‘em.” This makes Slim interesting because it shows that he capable of doing the best for himself, because he knows his dog can’t take care of all the puppies.

  127. The main character George has caught my attention because when him and Lennie were at the ranch George was yelling at Lennie and telling him not to talk and George was talking for him and it’s like George does not want to be there with Lennie but feels like he has to be. An example of this is on PDF page 14 when Georgwe says “So you wasn’t gonna say a word. You was gonna leave your big flapper shut and leave me do the talkin’.” This makes George interesting because if he does not have/want to be with Lennie why is he?

The minor character Curley has caught my attention because he is mean.
An example of this can be found on PDF page 14 when Curly says "“Well, nex’ time you answer when you’re spoke to." This makes Curly interesting because Lennie is bigger than Curly but Curly is still mean to him. This worries Lenny and George because they think it might cause trouble at the job.

  128. The main character George has caught my attention because the way he treats Lennie. For an example of this can be found on page 9 when George says ” You crazy fool. Don’t you think I could see your feet was wet where you went acrost the river to get it?” He heard Lennie’s whimpering cry and wheeled about. “Blubberin’ like a baby! Jesus Christ! A big guy like you.” Lennie’s lip quivered and tears started in his eyes. “Aw, Lennie!” George put his hand on Lennie’s shoulder. “I ain’t takin’ it away jus’ for meanness.” This makes george interesting because his mean to Lennie even though he know that he is vulnerable.

The minor character Curly has caught my attention because he tries to look big by picking or being rude to bigger people like Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 25 when Curley says “Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettn’ into it for?” This makes Curly interesting because he thinks that by make fun of other he is making himself bigger.

  129. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he has a hidden depth to him, in the sense that he is a “big softie” or his gentle side.
An example of this is on page 6 when lennie says “I could pet [the mouse] with my thumb while we walked along”. This makes Lennie interesting because it shows a soft side of him by showing that he finds happiness in small things such as petting a mouse.

The minor character of curley's wife has caught my attention because she has an interesting dynamic with the people of the ranch. An example of this is when she is on page 31 when she “Put her hands behind her back and leaned on the door frame so that her body was thrown forward” This makes her interesting because it shows how unloyal she is to curly and it makes us guess that she does that to many people on the ranch

  130. The main character that has caught my attention is George because he is always there for Lennie and has not left yet and takes care of him. some people can look at george and say he's a mean person because he yells at lennie sometimes but not many of us could stay with a lennie all our life and constantly take care of him like george does. The fact that George has not left yet shows how caring he is and a good person because he does all this for Lennie without leaving. After George yells at Lennie he always ends it and realizes it's not Lennie's fault and he feels bad and he apologizes to Lennie and makes him feel better. George does a form of this after every time he yells at Lennie and then continues to be patient and caring towards him.

Candy is the minor character that has caught my attention because he is a old man that I belize has been working at the ranch for awhile and knows his way around, but yet he agrees with lennie and george and sorta gossips about the others behind their backs to lennie and george. This is interesting because i would think an old man that has been working at a place for a while would do the opposite towards new guys. I would think Candy would gossip about Lennie and George to the others who work there, except he does the opposite which is interesting. This makes me think that candy will probably be friends with lennie and george and will help them out whenever they need it because he took an interesting level of care towards them. This happens when candy is giving them the run down on the others at the ranch like curley and his wife and slim and others and doesn't talk highly of curley or his wife.

  131. The main character George has caught my attention because George is constantly having to look after Lennie. An example of this can be found on page 5 when George says “You never had none, you crazy bastard. I got both of em here. Think I’d let you carry your own work card?” This makes George interesting because he knows that Lennie can't do much on his own so he has to take care of him. And he knows it's going to be hard to constantly look after Lennie but he still does it.

The minor character Curley’s wife has caught my attention because she was flirting with Lennie and George even though she is married. An example of this can be found on page 31 when Curley’s wife says “If he ain’t, I guess I better look someplace else, she said playfully.” This makes Curley’s wife interesting because she is married to Curly but she is flirting with Lennie and George who are new. This shows that she is a risk taker.

  132. The main character George has caught my attention because he needs to guide and help take care of Lennie because he knows Lennie can’t do things on his own since he relies on George so much so Lennie is his barrier and he has Lennie holding him back from being successful at times. An example of this can be found on page 24 when George says, “Well, that was a lie. An’ I’m damn glad it was. If I was a relative of yours I’d shoot myself.” This makes George interesting because he has such a soft heart for Lennie yet it seems like he has a lot of hatred towards Lennie maybe because he’s sick of watching over Lennie and having Lennie on his tail all the time.

The minor character Curley’s Wife has caught my attention because she doesn’t really seem to care much about her husband, she just cares more about her and her image because she’s so good-looking so she goes around being flirtatious with other men around the ranch. An example of this can be found when the old swamper man says, “I seen her give Slim the eye. Slim’s a jerkline skinner. Hell of a nice fella. Slim don’t need to wear no high-heeled boots on a grain team. I seen her give Slim the eye. Curley never seen it. An’ I seen her give Carlson the eye.” This makes Curley’s wife interesting because Curley still hasn’t seen her do these things, she’s sly.

  133. The main character George seems like he really needs this job and that he doesn't want to stay but he has too, as he said in chapter 2 “Lennie cried out suddenly—“I don’t like this place, George. This ain’t no
good place. I wanna get outta here.” “We gotta keep it till we get a stake. We can’t help it, Lennie. We’ll get out ,jus’ as soon as we can. I don’t like it no better than you do.” an I think that means that he they both dont like it but they have to stay because they do not have anywhere else to go.

The secondary character that interest me was curly and he doesn't want george and lennie there as much as they dont want to be there i think this because in chapter 2 he said this “George said, “S’pose he don’t want to talk?” Curley lashed his body around. “By Christ, he’s gotta talk when he’s spoke to. What the hell are you gettin’ into it for?” “We travel together,” said George coldly. “Oh, so it’s that way.” George was tense, and motionless. “Yeah, it’s that way.” Lennie was looking helplessly to George for instruction. “An’ you won’t let the big guy talk, is that it?” and i think he is saying this to intimidate them and make them scared

  134. The main character Lennie has caught my attention because he is very gentle even though he is so big. Although Lennie is gentle he can accidentally hurt things sometimes. This caught my attention because Lennie seemed like a very kind and caring person so it seemed out of place when he hurt animals. An example of this can be found on page 6 of the PDF when Lennie says “I’d pet ‘em, and pretty soon they bit my fingers and I pinched their heads a little and then they was dead.” This makes Lennie interesting because we can see that he almost has two sides to him which might be troublesome in the future when George and Lennie plan on having a lot of animals around their house.

The minor character Slim has caught my attention because from his description he seems like he would be a very cocky guy but after hearing him talk with George and Lennie he seems a lot nicer and more humble than I thought. An example of this can be found on page 18 of the PDF when Slim says “‘Hope you get on my team,’ he said. His voice was very gentle. ‘I gotta pair of punks on my team that don’t know a barley bag from a blue ball.’” This makes Slim interesting because he seems like he has a lot of influence on other people and if he uses that influence in a positive way he may be able to challenge Curly.
